What About Boredom.

Yeah, what about boredom.

As we talked earlier we can do absolutely nothing about the aging process. At 1000mph tomorrow is coming. And just a reminder yesterday is disappearing at 1000mph. So, we want to work with the things we can do something about. In the formula Contented Aging, Aging is a constant. If you live until tomorrow you will be 1 day older!

We need to focus on the things we can do something about.  What is this thing lables boredom. We hear it all of the time. "I'm Bored", "Life is Boring", "This job is Boring", even "This relationship is Boring".  Sometimes we tend to use boring as an excuse for what others are not doing for us.  (Non Boring)  is one of our responsibilities.  Yep, you cannont lean on one other person to make your life what you want it to be!
If you do you will become Blah, and you will emotionally smother the other person.  No, (non-boring) is one of our problems.

And, I really don't see it as a problem.  You see, we live in a culture that professes the myth that we should be entertained (distracted) at all times.

#  Take your cell phone to the toilet with you.
#  Have a TV in every room.
#  Text while driving
#   Music while you eat, sleep, wait, ride, worship, fly, etc.,
#   DVD player in the car on the plane
#   Movies at home and out
#   Pocket games, in between all of the above
#   Giant Telescreens at the ball park so we can really see what happened
#   5 commentators on the football game to tell us what we just saw.

God forbid that there should be a pause. It is constant intake. No time for friends or conversation. So, when we finally do take a break and look around at our lives what do we have. Nothing.

We have become a spectator electronically stimulated culture.  What we need is to get back in touch with OUR LIVES.  Not some super hero or TV show that fakes reality. You will never find substance in your life if you don't get electronically unhooked.  When was the last time you did anything besides your job and gadgets?

Want to get UnBored?  Get out and do what your are physically able to do. Do not let the calendar (your age) dictate what you should be doing.  Sail in the rain. Walk in the rain. Back pack in the winter time. Sky Dive, Row a Boat, Climb a Hill, Sit Down, Do Nothing, Watch, Bike, Kayak, Get out Alone, Find a special friend and just talk, Pray, Read,

What you have done if your are bored with your life is let someone else take it over.  You will never be fulfilled and staisfied being battery driven. And, I like to say, "Doing anything is better than doing nothing".
